In the middle of a sleepy residential community of narrow streets, old houses and small gardens, is a large, windowless, Tatooine colored cube. Step inside and you’ll be welcomed by a life sized C3P0 and R2D2 and a host of small, helmeted stormtroopers, clone troopers, bounty hunters and well known Star Wars heroes. Step further in and you’ll be confronted by the Terminator, Predator, Alien, tubes of floating xenomorphs, and much much more — a geeky collection made over 30 years.
Part cafe, part bar, part sci-fi cinema nostalgia hangout, the bb:geek building is specially designed so that the music played sounds like theater acoustics. Their menu offers Japanese comfort food like curry and pasta, hand-drip coffee and milk shakes. The Lunch of the Day is loaded with vegetables and includes a soup, a drink and five to six side dishes that change from day to day. At the time, the main dish was chicken nanban, using carefully selected, low pesticide rice and eggs.
The second floor is more museum than cafe. The owner is a huge gearhead, so in addition to the sci-fi collection, motoring enthusiasts visit to see the large collection of model cars and airplanes.
