The moms who run Shizen No Megumi Kitchen figured out a way to make their meals both healthy and educational. Located in Ajinadai in Hatsukaichi city, this restaurant serves dishes using locally caught seafood, seasonal ingredients picked that day, and homegrown, pesticide-free vegetables. The goal is for kids to taste the differences between the seasons while eating healthily.
Shizen No Megumi Kitchen is constantly changing things up to keep the menu interesting. At the time of this writing, the Choko Choko Lunch set included fried gansu, a Hiroshima style of fish cake, with soup, rice and the customer’s choice of side dishes. The “Hors d’oeuvre” menu item featured sea bream and scorpionfish with a variety of vegetables. At ¥3780, the Hors d’oeuvre was on the expensive side; however, they will adjust it to your budget if you ask.
If wild goose and scorpion fish don’t appeal to your kids or the kid in you, consider the pizza. They make new, original pizzas every day like basil cream pizza topped with octopus and shrimp. The pizza lunch set offers a choice of pizza served with soup and a salad. “
