Yoshiwa & Saiki Area
Yoshiwa and Saiki sit inland from Miyajima, in a more mountainous part of Hatsukaichi. The scenery changes quickly here — from the coastal route to forests, rivers, and open landscapes.

Getting there takes a bit of time. From JR Miyauchi-Kushido Station, it’s just over an hour by bus to Yoshiwa. Saiki is slightly closer, but still feels far from the main tourist route.

Because of the distance, it’s better to choose one area or a few spots rather than trying to see everything in one trip. Staying overnight is also a good way to explore the area at a slower pace.
In Yoshiwa, the focus is on outdoor activities and wide, open scenery. MEGAHIRA SKI RESORT & ONSEN KUVERE YOSHIWA offers both seasonal activities and onsen, while the WOODONE Museum sits quietly in the mountains, showing fine art in a calm setting. FOREST ADVENTURE adds something more physical, with climbing courses and ziplining through the trees.
Saiki has a slightly different feel, with small stops spread out along rivers and mountain roads. SAIKI INTERNATIONAL ARCHERY LAND offers a chance to try something unusual outdoors, while SUNS COFFEE is a simple riverside spot to take a break. Nagasuta focuses on Japanese vintage and traditional upcycling, and TABARA NOUEN is known for strawberry picking during the season.
Kyokaku-ji Temple is another quiet stop, with a more historical and reflective atmosphere.
If you want to stay longer, there are also riverside camping areas and forest BBQ sites, where you can spend more time in the landscape itself.
