Walking proudly in the French patisserie tradition, Koji Hirakasa, a veteran of the elite French restaurant Hotel de Mikuni in Tokyo, commits himself daily to the goal of inspiring the thrill of excitement and discovery through food. His ingenious confections achieve this by blending fresh, quality ingredients with a keen attention to textures. This commitment is reflected in his croissants and canelés. The tender, flakey croissants are baked fresh daily with imported, French AOP butter. The canelés, made with Hokkaido butter, have a crispy caramelized crust, a chewy, custardy interior and fill the nose with the aroma of rum and sweet vanilla when you bite into them.
Pâques has a wide range of confections, including three original pastries — Miyauchi Roll, Miyauchi Cheese Tart, and Hiroshima Souffle Sandwich — which have become representative souvenirs of the region available across the prefecture. While these are exceptional, the locals are especially vocal about Pâques’
Japanese Chestnut Mont Blanc, as well as their eclairs and macarons. Jessica Lam, a commenter on Google said the mont blanc was extremely delicious, ‘fresh, nutty, smooth and made to order.’ Like many others, she gave the shop five out of five stars for their food, service and atmosphere.
Pâques is located under the Sanyo-shinkansen overpass over Route 30. It’s hard to miss with its tall, orange, terracotta roof. For those taking public transport, the shop is a 16 minute westward walk from JR Miyauchikushido Station
