There is a lot of ice cream to choose from in Miyajima. Walk around Omotesando Street and you might even find vanilla soft serve topped with chocolate “deer poop.” Baccano, however, is hidden away from the main street and doesn’t need deer poop to sell their ice cream. Every day they make 18 flavors of gelato without any colorings or preservatives. Their stated goal is to produce a product that isn’t overly sweet so that the flavor of the ingredients, like gianduja or green tea, shine through. You can find flavors, like mango, hazelnut and black sesame, throughout the year, but many flavors will change over time. Whatever the flavor, a single scoop, with or without a cone, will set you back 450 yen. Two scoops cost 550 yen.
