Under the leadership of Kyo Tagashira, who was certified as a Konditorei Meister in Germany, Konditorei Felderchef brings the flavors of authentic German baked goods to Hatsukaichi. Their pastries and cookies are straight out of Deutschland while their cakes blend German tradition with Japanese sensibilities to create something delicious and beautiful that is both familiar to Germans and accessible to Japanese palates. Visit to enjoy a wide variety of German cakes and cookies including mandelbrot; streusel; fruit cake; gold award winning baumkuchen; and vividly colored, fruit-topped obsttortes, which are basically giant cookies topped with custard and fresh fruit.
A konditorei is the Germanic version of what the French call a patisserie and an American might call a pastry shop. It’s not uncommon for pastry shops to just be for take out in Japan, but in keeping with the German tradition of “kaffee und kuchen,” coffee and cake, Felderchef has a covered terrace where people can enjoy their cake, bread, tarts and limited offerings like German style breakfast with coffee or tea. They also offer a vegan and gluten-free lunch plate.
Felderchef is a lengthy, but mostly direct 30 minute walk from Hatsukaichi Shiyakusho-mae Station or JR Miyauchikushido Station. But if you can hail a cab, the trip is just five minutes.
