MIYAJIMA BREWERY ー Craft Beer Brewed with Miyajima Spring Water

An easy seven minute walk from Miyajima ferry terminal is Hatsukaichi’s only craft brewery. Miyajima Brewery makes original beers using Miyajima spring water from the deep, primeval forest of Mt. Misen, giving their brews a distinctive, gentle flavor. It brews three bottled beers that are available throughout the year. Try the Hiroshima Red Ale. Because of the two kinds of aroma hops used, the fragrance is reminiscent of berries and citrus fruit. The profile is refreshingly bitter. Other popular flavors are the Miyajima Weisen and Misen Dragon IPA. The brewery also sells three canned beers: Momiji Lager, Pale Ale and Weizen. Look out for limited edition, seasonal brews like Miyajima Oyster Stout, a mild, dark beer made with Miyajima oysters; Miyajima Honey Weizen Bock, made with local honey; and Hiroshima Setoda Lemon Ale, made with Hiroshima lemons. New original beers are also released from time to time according to the seasons and events. For example, Miyajima Brewery released a limited beer in collaboration with Hiroshima Miyoshi Winery that used wine yeast in the brew.
